Who?

Passionate people

Although I work freelance, with each project I am joined by local growers and providers of seeds, plants, materials, and passion. As I expand I am also always on the lookout for more designers and local partners.

Mara Galeano Carraro

My name is Mara Galeano Carraro. I hold a BA and an MA in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford, and an MSc in Anthropology, Environment & Development from UCL. I’ve also studied Permaculture and Ecosystem Restoration. I’ve worked in the gardens at Schumacher College, in the Permaculture Garden at Schloss Glarisegg in Switzerland, and on rooftops in London. I’m also a very keen cook and love to dance!

What makes this work so special?

I’m independent, well educated, and constantly learning – with each project I conduct extensive research into the area, environment, ecosystem, climate, and associated culture. I trial systems based on evidence and peer-reviewed research, as well as conducting long-term research within the projects that I help to establish.

I have a particular interest, not only in the physical world, but also the social systems that keep these human-natural solutions in place. I tend to get quite philosophical about our place in Nature, and I’m always keen to think critically about what we’re putting in place for the very-long term. I also assume that we may not always be around to steward the systems we build, and so I always try to go for solutions that will outlive us, and eventually perhaps, also humanity.

Collaborate with me

As a freelancer, I’m always looking for more projects, leads, and potential collaborations, so don’t hesitate to get in touch by emailing hello@disenyami.com or connecting on LinkedIn.
